Privacy Policy
Last updated: August 13, 2026
This Privacy Policy explains how MoparVinEquipment.com (the “Site,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) processes information when you use the Site, perform a VIN lookup, purchase a paid VIN Equipment Decode, or contact us.
1. Information We Process
VIN information
When you enter a VIN, the Site processes the VIN to identify the vehicle and retrieve available factory-equipment information.
The VIN may be sent to third-party vehicle-information services that are necessary to perform the lookup.
Paid transaction information
If you purchase a paid decode, payment is processed by Paddle, our payment provider and Merchant of Record.
Depending on the transaction and integration, we may receive or store limited payment-related information such as:
- Paddle transaction or checkout ID;
- payment status;
- purchased product;
- amount and currency;
- customer email address where provided;
- country or other transaction metadata made available by Paddle;
- an internal decode/report identifier used to unlock the purchased result.
We do not receive or store your full payment-card number.
Diagnostic and error information
We use diagnostic tools, including Sentry, to help identify errors and keep the Site working.
Diagnostic records can include browser/device information, IP address, page information, error details, timestamps, and information necessary to investigate a failed VIN lookup or paid report delivery.
Session replay
Sentry also captures a replay of the page — a reconstruction of the layout and of interactions such as clicks and scrolling — for a sample of visits and for visits where an error occurs. Replays are recorded with masking enabled: text content, form input, images and media are hidden before the replay leaves your browser, so what you type is not captured. Replay uses browser storage to link the recording to the session.
Traffic-source measurement
On your first visit we record how you arrived — the referring website's hostname and the utm_source value from the address, if present — to our own server. This is aggregate first-party measurement: it stores a count per source, not a profile of you, and does not include the VIN or your IP address. A small value is kept in your browser's local storage so the same visit is not counted repeatedly.
Network information
Our hosting and network providers, including Cloudflare, process IP addresses, request information, and related technical data to deliver the Site, prevent abuse, and protect the Service.
Support communications
If you contact us, we process the information you send, such as your email address, message, model/year information, or details needed to investigate a problem.
2. How We Use Information
We use information to:
- perform VIN lookups;
- generate and deliver purchased reports;
- verify payment status and unlock paid content;
- provide customer support;
- diagnose errors and failed transactions;
- protect the Site against abuse and fraud;
- maintain and improve reliability;
- comply with legal obligations.
We do not use a VIN to build a personal advertising profile.
3. Payment Processing by Paddle
Purchases are processed by Paddle, which acts as the Merchant of Record and authorized reseller for the paid digital product.
Paddle processes payment information, billing information, fraud-prevention data, tax information, and other transaction data under Paddle’s own privacy notice and buyer terms.
MoparVinEquipment.com does not receive or store your full payment-card number.
4. Vehicle-Information Services
To return vehicle information, the Site may use:
- Stellantis / FCA vehicle services for supported factory equipment information;
- the NHTSA VIN-decoding service for standardized VIN attributes;
- our own backend and sales-code/equipment data used to process and present results.
The VIN is shared with these services only as needed to perform the requested lookup or report.
5. Cookies and Similar Technologies
The Site may use technical storage necessary for security, session management, payment state, and normal Site operation. It also uses local browser storage for the traffic-source measurement described above, to avoid repeating the same diagnostic event, and for Sentry session replay.
Paddle Checkout may use cookies or similar technologies necessary for payment processing, checkout functionality, fraud prevention, and compliance.
The Site also includes Google AdSense code. Google and its partners may use cookies, device identifiers, or similar technologies to serve and measure advertising, including personalized advertising where permitted. Whether advertising is actually displayed depends on the status of the publisher account. Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this or other websites.
You can review and control how Google uses data for advertising at My Ad Center, and opt out of personalized advertising by many vendors at optout.aboutads.info or youronlinechoices.eu. Most browsers also let you block or delete cookies.
If further advertising or analytics technologies are introduced, this Privacy Policy and any required consent mechanism must be updated.
6. Data Retention
We retain information only for as long as reasonably necessary for the purposes described in this Policy.
A VIN may be processed temporarily to produce a result. When a paid report is purchased, limited transaction/report linkage information may be retained as needed to deliver or restore access to the purchase, provide support, prevent fraud, or address a refund request.
Diagnostic logs are retained only as long as reasonably necessary for operation, security, and troubleshooting.
Paddle retains payment and transaction records according to Paddle’s own legal and operational requirements.
7. Data Sharing
We may share information only when necessary with service providers that support the Site, including:
- Paddle for payment processing;
- Cloudflare for network delivery and security;
- Sentry for error diagnostics and masked session replay;
- Google AdSense for advertising;
- vehicle-information services necessary to perform VIN decoding and factory-equipment lookup;
- hosting and backend infrastructure providers.
We may also disclose information when required by law or reasonably necessary to protect the Site, users, or others from fraud or abuse.
We do not sell personal information as a standalone data product.
8. International Processing
The Site and its service providers may process information in countries different from the country where you live.
9. Your Privacy Rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights concerning personal information, including rights to request access, correction, deletion, restriction, or other legally available controls.
To make a privacy request, contact us using the email below.
10. Children’s Privacy
The Service is not directed to children and is not intended for use by children who are not legally able to enter into an online purchase.
11. Security
We use reasonable technical and organizational measures intended to protect the Site and the information it processes.
No internet service can guarantee absolute security.
12. The Browser Extension
The "Mopar Build Sheet by VIN" browser extension requests no special permissions and collects no data on its own. When you enter a VIN and select the button, it opens MoparVinEquipment.com with that VIN — after which this Policy applies.
13. Third-Party Links
The Site may contain links to third-party websites. Their privacy practices are governed by their own policies.
14. Changes
We may update this Privacy Policy when the Service, payment processing, data sources, or legal requirements change.
